Pink Slip / eSafety Check

01

What is a pink slip?

A pink slip — officially the NSW eSafety Check — is a safety inspection required to renew registration on light vehicles more than five years old. We lodge the result electronically with Transport for NSW.
02

How much does a pink slip cost?

$179 flat. Same price for cars, SUVs, utes, vans, motorcycles, trailers and caravans. No 'mobile fee', no vehicle-type surcharge, GST inclusive.
03

How long does a pink slip inspection take?

Usually 20 to 30 minutes on-site. Trailers and bikes are often quicker. We lodge the result to TfNSW before leaving so you can renew rego immediately.
04

What if my vehicle fails the pink slip?

You'll get a written report listing exactly what needs attention. If it's a small fix we can do on the spot — like a bulb or wiper — we'll sort it for you. For bigger work, fix it at your mechanic of choice, then bring it back within 14 days for a free re-inspection of the failed items.
05

Do I need a pink slip if my car is under five years old?

Generally no — light vehicles under five years old don't require an eSafety Check for renewal. Check your Service NSW renewal notice or ring us if you're unsure.
06

What does the eSafety Check cover?

We inspect brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights, seatbelts, body rust, chassis, windscreen, wipers, mirrors and other safety-related items according to Transport for NSW standards.
07

Can you do heavy vehicles or blue slips?

Not currently. We focus on the light-vehicle eSafety Check (under 4.5 tonne). Blue slips (unregistered vehicle inspections) and heavy vehicle checks are separate authorities.
08

How soon is the pink slip lodged with Transport for NSW?

Immediately after a pass. The result is submitted electronically to TfNSW before our examiner leaves, so you can renew your registration online straight away.
09

Is the $179 price the same for a caravan or trailer?

Yes. $179 covers all light vehicles under 4.5 tonne — passenger cars, SUVs, utes, vans, motorcycles, trailers and caravans.
10

Do I get a certificate or receipt?

You get a digital receipt from us and the inspection result is lodged with TfNSW. You won't receive a physical pink slip — it's all electronic now.

Pre-Purchase Vehicle Inspection

11

What is a pre-purchase vehicle inspection?

It's an independent, on-site inspection of a used car before you buy it. We check the mechanical, electrical, structural and cosmetic condition so you know exactly what you're purchasing.
12

How much does a pre-purchase inspection cost?

$280 inc GST. One fixed price for a comprehensive inspection anywhere in Sydney — no hidden travel fees or vehicle-type surcharges.
13

How do I get the pre-purchase report?

You get an instant on-the-spot written report handed to you the moment the inspection wraps up — no waiting, no PDF attachments, no email delays.
14

Do you need the seller there during the inspection?

Ideally yes, so we can access keys, the engine bay, boot and underbody. If the seller can't attend, we can arrange access with their permission and your listing details.
15

What details do I need to give you about the seller?

Seller name, phone number and the listing URL if you found the car online. This helps us coordinate access and confirm the vehicle location.
16

Do you offer a guarantee on pre-purchase inspections?

No. A pre-purchase inspection is an independent assessment of the vehicle's condition at that point in time. It helps you make an informed decision, but it is not a warranty or guarantee.
17

Can I book a pre-purchase inspection on weekends?

Yes. Sydney-wide mobile pre-purchase inspections run 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week, subject to availability. Book online or call 02 8014 0824.
18

How long does a pre-purchase inspection take?

Typically 45 to 75 minutes depending on the vehicle size, condition and access. Larger 4WDs or cars needing underbody checks may take a little longer.
19

What areas of Sydney do you cover for pre-purchase inspections?

All of Sydney and surrounding metro areas. Unlike pink slips, pre-purchase inspections are not suburb-restricted.
20

Can you inspect a car at a dealership?

Yes. We can inspect vehicles at private residences, dealerships, workplaces or any agreed location across Sydney.

Booking & Payment

21

How do I book an inspection?

Book online through our website. Choose your service, pick a date and time, enter your vehicle and location details, then pay securely with Stripe.
22

Can I pay online?

Yes. All bookings are paid securely online via Stripe using credit or debit card. We do not charge extra for card payments.
23

Is the payment secure?

Yes. We use Stripe with 256-bit SSL encryption. Your card details are never stored or seen by us.
24

Can I cancel or reschedule my booking?

Yes. You can reschedule or cancel free of charge with reasonable notice. Contact us by phone or message and we'll sort it for you.
25

Do I pay before or after the inspection?

Payment is taken at checkout when you book, which secures your time slot. This keeps the process fast and contactless on the day.
26

Will I receive a confirmation email?

Yes. You and our operations team both receive confirmation emails with your booking details, vehicle information and appointment time.
27

What happens if I need to change my address or vehicle details?

Call or message us as soon as possible. Small changes are usually fine, but vehicle or address changes may affect pricing or availability.
28

Can I book for someone else?

Yes. Just enter the actual vehicle owner's or driver's details in the booking form and your own contact details for the confirmation.

Coverage & Mobile Service

29

Do you come to me, or do I come to you?

Both. Mobile is our default across Greater Sydney — home, work, apartment carpark. Workshop appointments are also available.
30

Which suburbs do you cover for pink slips?

We cover most of Greater Sydney for pink slips. Use the suburb checker on our pink slip page to confirm your area, or contact us if your suburb isn't listed.
31

What if my suburb isn't covered for a pink slip?

If we don't currently cover your suburb for pink slips, you can still book our mobile pre-purchase inspection service (available all over Sydney) or call us to check nearby coverage.
32

Can you inspect my car at my workplace?

Yes. As long as we have safe access, a flat surface and permission to be on the property, we can inspect your car at work, home or another convenient location.
33

Do I need to be present during the inspection?

For pink slips, you or a nominated person should be available with the keys and registration papers. For pre-purchase inspections, seller access is usually required.
34

What do I need to have ready?

Your registration papers, driver's licence, and a set of keys. That's it. We'll do the rest.
35

Can you inspect in an underground car park?

Sometimes, if there's enough height, light and ventilation. We may ask to move the vehicle to street level if the space isn't suitable for a safe inspection.

After the Inspection

36

How soon can I renew my registration after a pass?

Straight away. Once we lodge the eSafety result with TfNSW, you can renew your registration online through Service NSW.
37

What if the inspector finds a minor fault?

If it's something we can fix on the spot — like a blown bulb, wiper blade or loose trim — we'll take care of it and continue the inspection where possible.
38

How long is a pink slip valid for?

A pink slip inspection result is valid for six months from the date of issue for registration renewal purposes.
39

Do you offer fleet or business accounts?

Yes. We work with trade, courier and small business fleets. Contact us for tailored fleet pricing and priority booking arrangements.
40

Can I leave a review?

Absolutely. After your inspection we'll send you a link to leave a verified review. Reviews help other drivers choose with confidence.
