Booking a pre-purchase inspection at a Sydney dealer yard
Any reputable Sydney dealer will accommodate an independent inspection. Here's how to arrange it without friction, and what the dealer's response tells you about the car.

An independent pre-purchase inspection at a dealership is entirely normal and dealers deal with it every week. The key is booking it early, being explicit with the dealer, and treating any resistance as data about the car.
How to book
Call the dealer, say 'I want to bring an independent inspector to look at the car before I commit', and confirm the day and time. Most dealers say yes without hesitation. Then book us for a time that suits both of you — we come to their yard with our tools and inspect the car in situ.
What the dealer's response tells you
Dealer says yes, no problem — good sign. Dealer says yes but wants their mechanic to do the inspection — walk away. Dealer says no — walk away, hard. The single strongest signal you can get about a used car is how comfortable the seller is with independent scrutiny.
What we'll do on site
The 90-point inspection, same as a private-sale check. We work in the dealer yard with our own equipment. Written report handed to you on the spot. If we find something material, you have leverage to negotiate price down or walk away entirely.

- Only if you choose to share it. Many buyers do share it — it's often the foundation of a price negotiation.
- How much notice do dealers need?
- 24 hours is usually enough. Larger dealer groups sometimes want 48 hours.
