Pink Slip Open Sunday Sydney 2026 — 7-Day Mobile Inspections, No Weekend Loading

Almost every workshop pink slip station closes Saturday afternoon and stays shut on Sunday. Our mobile inspectors don't. Here's how a genuine 7-day inspection service changes what "same day" actually means when rego is due Monday and it's already Sunday morning.

Pink Slip Basics · 9 min read

The classic Sydney pink slip problem: you notice rego is due Monday, it's Saturday afternoon, and every workshop pink slip station within 15 km is either already booked out or closes at 12 noon. Sunday is worse — most stations aren't open at all. That's where a mobile inspector who genuinely runs seven days a week solves the problem in one booking. No weekend loading, no public holiday surcharge, no after-hours fee — flat $179 inc GST, seven days, 7am to 7pm.

Why most workshops don't do Sundays

Pink slip stations are almost always attached to workshops that make their real money on repairs. Repair work is priced Monday-to-Friday, staffed Monday-to-Saturday-morning, and closed Sunday because opening for a government-regulated $51 inspection fee doesn't cover the labour cost of an inspector plus a duty manager plus utilities.

The result: even a large workshop with three inspectors on the roster typically offers pink slip slots Tuesday to Saturday morning only, and those slots get booked out three to five days ahead. If your rego is due on a Monday, that's often not enough runway. If you need Sunday, most workshops simply cannot help — the light is off, the roller door is down.

How we run 7 days

Mobile-only inspection is a different economic model. We don't have a fixed workshop to open, so a Sunday morning doesn't cost us any more than a Tuesday morning — we're driving to you either way. That's why we offer the same slot availability, same 20–30 minute inspection, and same flat $179 price seven days a week, 7am to 7pm, including Sundays and public holidays.

  • Sunday 7am for a workday-warrior who can't take Monday off — done.
  • Saturday 6pm because the game finishes at 4 — done.
  • Public holiday inspection because rego is due while you're on leave — done, no surcharge.
  • Early morning before you drive interstate — done.
  • Boxing Day pink slip so you can hit the road on the 27th — done.
  • Sunday of a long weekend — done.

How the booking actually works on a Sunday

  1. Book online any time — the calendar shows Sunday slots the same as any weekday.
  2. You get an SMS confirmation with the arrival window (usually a 30-minute window, not the vague "morning" or "afternoon" you get from workshops).
  3. Inspector arrives, walks the car, runs the eSafety Check on the tablet, hands you a pass or an itemised fail list.
  4. Pass lodges electronically to Service NSW inside a few minutes — you can complete the rego renewal from your phone before the inspector has even left the driveway.
  5. Certificate valid 6 months from issue, same as any weekday inspection.
  6. Total time on your Sunday: about 45 minutes end-to-end.

Same day is genuinely same day

Every workshop advertises "same day" but almost none can deliver it on a Sunday. Same day for a workshop means "if we happen to have a cancellation at 2pm on a Wednesday and you're willing to bring the car to Ryde by 1:45pm, then yes, same day". Same day mobile means we arrive at your driveway within a two-to-four hour window from the time you book, seven days a week. On Sundays, when the workshops are all closed, the practical difference is enormous — the alternative isn't a slightly longer wait, it's Monday at the earliest.

What Sunday and public holiday costs look like

  • Sunday inspection: $179 inc GST — same as Tuesday.
  • Public holiday inspection (Boxing Day, Easter Monday, ANZAC Day, Queen's Birthday, etc.): $179 inc GST — same as Tuesday.
  • Early morning (7am–9am): $179 inc GST — same as midday.
  • Late afternoon (5pm–7pm): $179 inc GST — same as midday.
  • Free 14-day return re-check on any fixable fail: also runs 7 days.

No hidden fees, no small print, no "peak day loading". The flat rate is genuinely flat.

Which suburbs get Sunday coverage

Every Sydney suburb we cover on weekdays is also available on Sundays and public holidays — Eastern Suburbs, Inner West, North Shore, Northern Beaches, Hills, Western Sydney, Sutherland Shire, St George, Parramatta, Blacktown, Liverpool, Campbelltown and the Central Coast fringe. Rural fringe suburbs and Bundeena / Royal National Park may need a slightly longer lead time on weekends but are still covered.

What Sunday inspections don't help with

If your car has an obvious fail item — bald front tyres, a cracked windscreen in the driver's field of view, a brake light out — Sunday inspection doesn't get around it. You'll get the itemised fail list on the spot, and then you're waiting for a Monday repair shop anyway. The 14-day free re-inspection covers you once the repair is done.

If your rego has already been expired more than 3 months, you don't need a pink slip on any day — you need a blue slip at an AUVIS workshop (and AUVIS stations don't do Sundays either). Check your Service NSW account first to confirm which slip you actually need.

Rego expiring Monday? Do this on Sunday

  1. Sunday morning: book the earliest Sunday slot online. Same-day is usually available.
  2. Mobile inspector arrives at your driveway; 20–30 minutes; certificate lodges electronically to Service NSW.
  3. Open the Service NSW app on your phone; check the CTP green slip is current; complete the rego renewal payment.
  4. Screenshot the confirmation. You're legal from Sunday afternoon.
  5. If you fail, get the fix booked Monday morning at any local mechanic — the free re-check covers you for 14 days.
Common questions

Frequently asked.

Can I get a pink slip on Sunday in Sydney?
Yes — our mobile inspectors run 7am to 7pm every day of the week including Sundays and public holidays, at the same flat $179 inc GST as any weekday. Book online any time; the calendar shows Sunday slots the same as weekdays.
Do you charge extra for Sunday or weekend pink slips?
No weekend loading, no public holiday surcharge, no after-hours fee. Flat rate, seven days a week, 7am to 7pm.
How quickly can I get a Sunday pink slip?
Same-day is usually available — book in the morning for an afternoon slot, or the night before for a morning slot. Peak Sunday times (10am–12pm) book out first.
Why don't workshops do pink slips on Sundays?
Workshops make their money on repairs, not the government-set inspection fee. Opening on Sundays doesn't pay for the labour, so most close. Mobile-only inspection has no fixed premises to open, so Sundays cost us no more than weekdays.
What times can I book on a Sunday?
7am to 7pm, in half-hour increments. The 7–9am and 4–7pm slots are the least booked — most demand is between 9am and midday.
Will my rego renewal go through on a Sunday?
Yes — Service NSW accepts electronic lodgements 24/7. Once we lodge the pass to your rego record, you can complete the renewal on the Service NSW app immediately.
Do you work on public holidays?
Yes — Boxing Day, Easter Monday, ANZAC Day, Queen's Birthday, Australia Day and every other NSW public holiday. Same flat $179 rate, no surcharge.
Can I get a pink slip on Christmas Day?
Christmas Day itself is one of the few days we don't schedule. Boxing Day onwards is fine — book ahead as the days between Christmas and New Year are popular.
What if my car fails on a Sunday?
You'll get the itemised fail list on the spot. Book any Monday mechanic to fix; then come back to us within 14 days for the free re-check.
Can I get a Sunday inspection at an office car park?
Yes — home driveways are the most common Sunday location, but strata car parks, hospital staff parks and any accessible location work fine on weekends too.
Do you cover the outer suburbs on Sundays?
Yes — Northern Beaches to Palm Beach, Western Sydney to Penrith and Blaxland, Sutherland Shire to Cronulla, Hills to Box Hill. Full coverage 7 days.
Can I get a Sunday pre-purchase inspection?
Yes — flat $280 inc GST at any Sydney seller's address, 7 days a week. Popular for weekend Facebook Marketplace / Carsales viewings.
