How to renew NSW rego online after your pink slip
Registration & Rego · 3 min read

A mobile pink slip inspection isn't just faster than a workshop — the electronic lodgement means the renewal itself becomes a phone-tap job. Provided your green slip is current, you're minutes away from a paid rego.

What you need before you start

Your Service NSW login (MyServiceNSW account), your current rego papers or the plate number, a valid CTP green slip issued in the last month, and a payment method — card or PayPal.

Step by step

  1. Log into MyServiceNSW app or website
  2. Choose 'Renew vehicle registration'
  3. Enter your plate number and vehicle billing customer number
  4. Confirm the pink slip result is showing as 'received' (lodged by us electronically)
  5. Confirm your CTP green slip provider and policy number
  6. Choose 6-month or 12-month renewal
  7. Pay and download the new certificate

The two things that stall the renewal

First — your green slip hasn't been renewed yet. Green slip is a separate insurance product; you buy it from any NSW CTP insurer (NRMA, GIO, Allianz, QBE, etc.) and it typically takes minutes online. Second — an outstanding fine that's been referred to Revenue NSW and attached to your registration record. That has to be cleared before the renewal goes through.

Common questions

Frequently asked.

Does the online renewal work if the pink slip was done at a workshop?
Yes — any authorised inspection lodges to Service NSW electronically. Workshop or mobile, it's the same lodgement system.
How long does the pink slip lodgement take to appear in Service NSW?
Usually within minutes of us pressing 'submit' at your driveway. Occasionally it can take up to an hour if the Service NSW gateway is slow.
What if my green slip isn't current?
You'll be prompted to buy one during the renewal. Pick any NSW-licensed CTP insurer; the price varies by vehicle and postcode.
