Pink Slip Mosman & Lower North Shore 2026 — Mobile eSafety Check at Your Driveway

Mosman and the surrounding Lower North Shore have specific pink slip realities: dense street parking, older European vehicles, narrow driveways, and Military Road traffic that turns a workshop trip into half a day. A mobile inspector at your address solves all of it. Flat $179 inc GST, no travel surcharge, weekends included.

The Lower North Shore has more European vehicles per capita than almost any other Sydney region — and European vehicles have specific pink slip patterns (harder-wearing brake sensor lights, more sensitive OBD-II readiness monitors, easier-to-fail xenon headlight aim). Combine that with dense street parking and Military Road congestion, and the workshop pink slip becomes a genuine time drain. Our mobile service arrives at your Mosman, Cremorne, Neutral Bay, Kirribilli, Cammeray, Northbridge, Balmoral, Beauty Point, Clifton Gardens or Waverton driveway with the full AIS kit, runs the eSafety Check on-site, and lodges to Service NSW before we leave.

Why mobile pink slip fits the Lower North Shore

  1. Military Road congestion turns a 3 km workshop trip into 40+ minutes at peak.
  2. Street parking density means driving out for an inspection costs your parking spot for the day.
  3. More European vehicles per capita means specialist knowledge matters — our inspectors work across BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volvo, Volkswagen and Porsche daily.
  4. Apartment residents in Kirribilli, Milsons Point and Neutral Bay: any garage bay or visitor spot with clearance works.
  5. Weekend and public holiday availability at no surcharge — 7am–7pm, 7 days.

European-vehicle pink slip watch-outs

Lower North Shore vehicles are disproportionately European, and a few brand-specific quirks catch drivers out on the day:

  • BMW / Mercedes brake pad wear sensors — when the sensor light is on, the front pads are typically at 3mm (the pink slip minimum). If the light has been on for a while, pads are likely already below 3mm and will fail.
  • Audi / Volkswagen check-engine light — if the light has ever been on and was cleared with a code reader, the OBD-II readiness monitors need a full drive cycle to reset. An inspector will see incomplete monitors and fail the emissions check. Drive the car normally for 100+ km after any code clear before inspection.
  • Xenon / HID / LED headlights on older Mercedes and BMWs — the auto-levelling motor can fail, throwing beam aim off. Aim is a pink slip fail item.
  • Porsche 911 / Cayenne: rear brake dust builds up rapidly and can mask disc thickness. A wheel-off pad and disc measurement is standard.
  • Volvo T5/T6: known cold-start smoke on turbocharged petrol engines — advisory not fail unless it doesn't clear in 30 seconds.

What we bring to your Mosman driveway

  • Full AIS diagnostic scanner (OBD-II for post-2020 vehicles, brand-specific protocols for European makes).
  • Wheel-off brake pad measurement gauge.
  • Paint depth gauge and torch for structural checks.
  • Service NSW electronic lodgement tablet.
  • Card, tap-and-go, Apple Pay and Google Pay payment terminal.
  • A written report on the day, PDF emailed within an hour.

Timing and access on the Lower North Shore

We publish live availability in the booking flow — 30-minute slots between 7am and 7pm, 7 days a week. Mosman / Cremorne / Neutral Bay street parking is workable for the inspection but we need 2 clear metres around the car — a driveway or a garage bay is easier for both parties. If you're in a Kirribilli or Milsons Point apartment with tight underground bays, let us know the ceiling clearance so we can bring the appropriate brake pad gauge.

If you fail — free re-inspection within 14 days

A fail on the day isn't lodged against your rego. You have 14 days to have the fail items fixed by whichever mechanic you prefer, and we come back for a free re-inspection to verify. No new call-out fee, no admin charge, no separate lodgement fee.

Common questions

Frequently asked.

Do you do mobile pink slips in Mosman?
Yes — mobile pink slips at any Mosman, Cremorne, Neutral Bay, Kirribilli, Milsons Point, Cammeray, Northbridge, Balmoral, Beauty Point, Clifton Gardens, Waverton, North Sydney, Crows Nest, St Leonards or Lane Cove address. Flat $179 inc GST.
Is a mobile pink slip legal in NSW?
Yes — mobile inspectors operate under the same Authorised Inspection Scheme (AIS) as fixed workshops, with the same Transport for NSW licensing. Results are lodged electronically to Service NSW before we leave.
How much does a pink slip cost on the Lower North Shore?
Our flat rate is $179 inc GST — same across Mosman, Neutral Bay, North Sydney, Lane Cove and every Lower North Shore suburb. No travel surcharge, no weekend loading.
Do you inspect BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi vehicles?
Yes — our inspectors work across all major European brands daily. Brand-specific OBD-II protocols supported.
How long does the inspection take?
20–30 minutes for a standard vehicle with no fail items, plus 5 minutes for electronic lodgement.
Can you inspect at my Kirribilli or Milsons Point apartment?
Yes — any garage bay or visitor spot with 2 clear metres around the car works. Let us know underground ceiling clearance in advance for tight buildings.
What happens if my car fails?
We hand you an itemised fail report so you can fix items with your preferred mechanic, then re-inspect for free within 14 days.
Do you work weekends on the Lower North Shore?
Yes — 7am–7pm, 7 days a week, at the same $179 flat rate.
My brake wear light is on — will I fail?
Usually yes on European vehicles — the sensor triggers at 3mm which is the minimum. Replace pads before the inspection or expect a fail.
I cleared a check-engine light — is that enough for the pink slip?
No — the OBD-II readiness monitors need a full drive cycle to reset (100+ km of mixed driving). An inspector will see incomplete monitors and fail the emissions check on 2020+ vehicles.
Can I pay by Afterpay?
Yes — Afterpay is offered at online checkout on the $179. Four instalments of about $45, no interest.
Do you inspect motorcycles or trailers on the Lower North Shore?
No — motorcycles and trailers require a fixed AIS station. Our mobile service covers passenger cars, SUVs, utes and light commercial vehicles up to 4.5t.
